Monday Morning MeMe #1

August 25, 2008

I thought I would play along with the Monday Morning MeMe with Karen!  So here is my first one!

1. What are you up to today? Be specific. We’ve talked about your morning routine before, now walk us through a typical Monday for you after breakfast is over. How do you feel about Mondays? A fresh start to your week? Or do you dread the drudge of getting back to the same old routine?

Mondays are rough for me right now as I use to babysit two sweet little girls on Mondays and Tuesdays that I don’t have now that they are in school full time, this nanny isn’t needed.  So my typical routine is Washing Towels, getting groceries, cleaning the house from top to bottom and after wards sitting down at my computer to comment on some fabulous scrap layouts or scrapping.  Mondays I sort of look forward too because when the weekend comes, the house seems to stay cluttery with everyone home who seem to have issues picking up after themselves from time to time.

2. Earworms - we all get them from time-to-time. What tune do you have stuck in your head at the moment? How important is music to your life? List some of your favorite songs - and I’m talking about songs that evoke a strong emotion in you; joy, anger, sadness, etc. Do you have one particular song that brings back a certain time period in your life? What is the song and what is the time period?

Right now I have the tune A Living Prayer stuck in my head, its such a beautiful song.  Some of my favorite songs are  All I Want to Do by Sugarland, Honkey Tonk Badonkadonk by Trace Adkins, Bad Day by the Chipmunks, In the Garden by Alan Jackson, Long Black Train by Josh Turner, just to name a few.  One song that takes me back is Take a Bow by Madonna.  It reminds me of the charade my ex husband played and him leaving (he was abusive).  I really loved him with all that I was and that song reminds me of that.

3. Who have you needed to say thank you to lately? Who is this person and what did he/she do to prompt a thank you?

My friend Lisa, she is a sweet lady I am getting the pleasure of knowing more each day, and my friend Lara, because she is just a sweet friend who I really appreciate.  My husband, my father and my kids.  This list could go on and on!

4. How many candles will be on your birthday cake this next birthday? What do you think about the age you are now? Are you comfortable with what you’ve accomplished in life so far? Or do you wish you could have achieved more? You’re being granted one birthday wish - what is it?

If there was candles on my cake, there would be 39 this year.  I think I am at a fair age, I don’t feel “old” if you know what I mean.  I think so far I am satisfied with my accomplishments.. I am a good mother and wife, housewife and putting my life aside to become a caregiver of my father.  I couldn’t do anymore than I am right now.  If I was granted one birthday wish..hmmm  I wish I could live out in the country!

The Heart Whisper(er)

August 23, 2008

A word was secretly brought to me, my ears caught a whisper of it.  Job 4:12

Did you know that God is the Heart Whisper(er)?  Yes he is, he comes to us and speaks to us but how often do we hear him?  How many of those moments have we missed?

Overwhelmed

I will never forget

August 19, 2008

I will never forget about the wonderful things that God has done for me through others.  It’s amazing how his love just seems to pour and be never ending.  Let me share one of the wonderful things with you.

During my single mommy days, after my ex left us and we were left to build our lives together, my two children and I, finances were always a struggle.  I would do what I could, stretch what I could and when I could.  There were times that wasn’t possible.  I worked full time and only got $63 in Food Stamps for my kids.  There were many meals I would skip just so I could feed my children!

One month as the end of the year approached, I was exactly $500 short of what I needed to pay the bills.  The lot rent was due and a few other things.  I didn’t have the money and I did not ask nor tell anyone I was short.  One day on my way home from work, I stopped to check the mail and there was an envelope from a bank.  I opened it and it was a cashiers check for $500 and I started to cry.  I rushed home to call my “church momma” and said but I don’t know who its from and can’t even thank them in person and she said, it was a gift from God, you don’t ask, you just gladly accept and use it.  God knew and provided for us and I will never forget this ever!  It was just amazing how much God was there for me as I did not have an earthly husband to provide for us, but we did have a heavenly father who provided for us and took care of us.

I Thessalonians 5:11

August 16, 2008

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing .  I Thessalonians 5:11

In your marriage, no matter how busy you are, you HAVE to take time for one another and to build up one another.  This can not be “one” sided.  This must be something you “both” do, to keep your marriage going strong.  I have to admit I am a bit exhausted because I am frustrated with my husband, but I continue to love him and build him up and let go and let God work on his heart.  You have to remember this, you only get out of marriage what you put into it.  I mean if you give up, then what are you reaping?

Just received

August 14, 2008

I just received the book I ordered from the Billy Graham Association called 10 Things you should know about God and Life by Greg Laurie.  I am looking foward to reading this book.  Understanding = Life.  These are the top 10 most requested messages that Greg Laurie has given and I hope to learn and grow from reading this book.

Ice Cream

August 12, 2008

This was sent to me and I wanted to post to share at my blog:

Last week I at a restaurant and a boy of about six or so at the next table asked his Mom if he could say grace. As they bowed their heads he said, “God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!”

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a crabby old woman remark, “That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!”

Hearing this, the kid burst into tears and asked his Mom, “Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?”

As his Mom held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at the youngster and said, “I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.”

“Really?” the kid asked.

“Cross my heart,” the man replied.

Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), “Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.”

Naturally, this really great Mom bought her kids ice cream at the end of the meal. The young lad stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember for a long time to come. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, “Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.”

“God is good, God is great… And Liberty and Justice for all! Amen!”
