A lesson in pruning

I wish my daughter would take a lesson in pruning, so that she can understand that sometimes in the path of our lives, we have to be pruned.  She has  a few toxic friendships, when I say toxic I mean not healthy.  It brings her spirit down and then there is much tension between us.  Sometimes our paths in life will take a detour from a direction we thought we were going, but there is a reason and purpose.  However, she really pulls and steers to go that directions anyhow.  Sometimes she seems to plan things around what ever the deal of the day is.  Like who or what can offer her the best entertainment, and that is the choice she goes.  If what I am offering isn’t good enough, even though its plans we made in advance, she will change them last minute.    We had words because I absolutely will not allow her one friend to come to our house anymore and she is really upset with me about it.  The way I see it, its too much stress for me and I am pruning it out, its my house and I have a say who comes and who goes.  She doesn’t like it, then she can walk up the street and let her friend pick her up there.  I am not stopping or choosing her friends, but I am putting an end to her coming to me crying and upset because she said or did things to hurt her again.  This girl only comes around when no one else is, and I see it, hubby sees it, my friends even see it, but my daughter?  Nope, she doesn’t see it!
